The French and German Master-Programme is a one year study programme between the University of Cologne (Germany) and the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne) (France). Each year for the winter term a maximum of 10 students are admitted to the programme. The courses all thake place at the University of Cologne. The students follow courses in German and French Commercial Law and can choose 2 of ouf 5 different electives (find below the study programme). The courses in French commercial law are held by professors from the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne) in block events. In addition, the students have to absolve an internship. The Master thesis has to be written in French and is supervised by a professor of University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne).

In Cologne the directors of Programme are: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Barbara Dauner-Lieb, Prof. Dr. Martin Henssler and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas von Danwitz.

 

The programme is supported by the DFH/UFA (Deutsch-Französische Hochschule/Université Franco-allemande) which is located in Saarbrücken. The DFH is a legal entity, which was found by Germany and France in 1997. The mission of the DFH is to initiate, evaluate and fund German and French study programmes.

After having successfully completed the programme, the University of Cologne confers the graduated the diploma of Master of Laws (LL.M.) and the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne) confers a certificate of knowledge of French Law.

The average mark for the diploma is calculated as follows:

German Commercial Law: 10%

French Commercial Law: 10%

Internship: 0%

Master thesis: 50%

Elective n°1 (1-5): 10%

Elective n°2 (1-5): 10%
